Cost of Living Comparison...
Do you think life here in BCN is more expensive that, let's say, the largest cities in AUS or NZ?
According to http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Spain&city1=Barcelona&country2=Australia&city2=Sydney cost of living in BCN and Wellington is similar but life is Sydney is more expensive
Do you agree with this comparison Barcelona-Sydney?. I'm not so sure that some of the data are correct...
Anyway, I suppose that life in small towns differs a lot from this numbers... Don't you think?

YOUR life in Barcelona... in pictures...
Anna Baeza is a photojournalist from Barcelona who approached The Australian New Zealander Catalan Society for an interesting project.
She's trying to contact some Australians and New Zealanders living in Barcelona, people who have settled here for some time. Anna will follow them, picture them, interview them and will produce a magnificent and professional product for sure.
Those collaborating with her will have a copy of the project (for yourself or maybe an special gift for your family!!!).
If you are interested email us or comment this post and Anna will contact you.

The Melbourne Cup 2010... on line
Watching the "race that stops a nation" was the new excuse to meet up and have a drink, that's why we suggested to organize an event. As some of you told us maybe Tuesday 2nd Oct is not the best night for going out, especially after a long week-end.
We provide a link where the whole carnival is available to watch on line:
Enjoy!

Get Started with BCN: Local news in English
We recommend you a Catalonia-based newspaper called Catalonia Today. It provides news in English from a Catalan point of view. You can buy it at your local newsagency's or read i on line (www.cataloniatoday.cat)
You can also find a free newspaper called Barcelona Metropolitan (www.barcelona-metropolitan.com). Some of our members get it monthly at The Philharmonic (Carrer Mallorca 204).

August 2010 activities: The Secret Lives of Pippa Lee (at Renoir Cinema)
This month's film was "The Secret Lives of Pippa Lee" directed by Rebecca Miller.
As always we talked after watching the film, there were very different opinions about how interesting (or boring) the film is. The debate was held at the cinema's premises (they have a cafeteria).
Suggestions about the September's films are welcome!

August 2010 activities: BCN tour
For those of you who attended the Barcelona Tour and want to send your photos, please do it right now, we can't wait...
Vincent, our Dutch member gave us a tour visiting the main "Expo 1888" spots. It was very interesting. Comparisons between the Fontana di Trevi in Rome and the fountain in Parc de la Ciutadella attracted a lot of comments.
Thanks Vicent!!!

The IELTS.adventure group was born about a year ago, the idea was to improve our skills in English but the group became a meeting point for travellers, ex-pats and people interested in global trends. Some of the members of IELTS.adventure have started this new project.
